Medicinal Mushrooms, Nancy Konz

A growing number of studies, as well as a mountain of anecdotal reports, support the therapeutic potential of “magic mushrooms.” Treatment with psilocybin is a remarkable medical frontier. Even the Veterans Administration is conducting trials for the treatment of PTSD, anxiety, and depression, with microdosing, the practice of taking very small amounts of psychedelics without hallucinogenic effects. Many find it improves mood, creativity, and focus. The mushroom may also aid in treating cluster headaches, anorexia, addiction, and even OCD. Member Nancy Konz, who holds an MS in Nursing, will take us on a trip through the history of psilocybin use up to the current clinical picture. She’ll also relate some surprising personal benefits she attributes to these special fungi.

This event is NOT hosted, sponsored, or endorsed by the Seattle Public Library. Any views that are discussed in this meeting are not a reflection of the Seattle Public Library’s views.

Mensa of Western Washington’s monthly gatherings are held on the Third Saturday of the month and open to the public. Time and location will vary to make accommodations for speaker availability and member travel time.
