Liquid Gathering Before the MG
At the ROANOKE INN, 1825–72nd Avenue SE, Mercer Island, (206) 232-0800 (as you exit the business district to go right to the community center, turn west [left] instead, toward Seattle). "This speakeasy-turned-tavern is set in an upscale residential neighborhood on Mercer Island, incongruously enough that a few years ago a couple of cranky NIMBYs tried to shut the old place down, as if it were an irritating anachronism rather than the soul of the island. Fortunately, residents rallied and the 1914 state landmark was saved. Not far from the I-90 floating bridges, and long catering to cross-lake travelers, it's a great place for Eastsiders and Seattleites to meet halfway. The menu offers classic tavern food—a hefty French dip, giant burritos, and the two-thirds-pound Rowy Roanoke burger with cheese and ham." Check it out at
http://www.seattleweekly.com/locations/roanoke-inn-172107/. Please RSVP to Virginia (story%q.com – see Email) by 2 pm on Saturday.

Dining Out SIG
At Madame K's Pizza Bistro, 5327 Ballard Ave NW. One of the latest reviews says "Delightful and delicious! Great bordello, cheeky atmostphere and décor. Best pizza around, better than the fancy chains. The first time here I tried the cheesy bread and pepperoni pizza, and of course, the Orgasm–the best dessert in the world! So simple, yet divine. It is a hot, gooey, chocolate chip cookie topped with vanilla ice cream that will made you cry, it's so good." And yes, the decoration as brothel-very neat-o! Customers can even dress up in some of the hats and dresses.

2011 AG in Portland, Oregon!
This will be the FIRST EVER AG to be held in the Pacific Northwest! It will be held at the downtown Hilton Hotels (2). It’s also Portland’s
Blues Festival weekend. It will be a joint effort between MWW and Oregon Mensa; so if you want to be a part of it, please contact Michael, the AG
Chair (2011AGChair%comcast.net – see Email). We will need all manner of help, including-but-not-limited-to introducing speakers and hospitality (minimal need of 15 per day, since we are hiring a caterer). If you are interested in hosting a specific game tournament, contact Donna (dprior%inbox.com – see Email). If you know of a really good speaker — Jean Auel has already agreed to speak at the AG as part of our Arts and Authors track — please contact Mary at the AG Chair email address above.
